API Service Data

When you use the Mecanik API (api.mecanik.dev) or the developer dashboard, we process the data necessary to provide and secure the service:

Account and request metadata: your account UUID, hashed API tokens, and the metadata of each request (timestamp, endpoint called, originating IP address) for authentication, credit billing, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.
Request inputs and outputs: the content you submit to an endpoint (for example a URL, domain, IP, email address, email content, code, text, or image) and the result returned. Inputs are processed to produce the result and to operate, secure, and improve the Service. They are not sold and are not used to build advertising profiles.
Third-party processing: some endpoints pass your input to third-party infrastructure to fulfil the request, including Cloudflare (compute, Workers AI for the AI endpoints, and DNS-over-HTTPS lookups) and our payment and email providers. These providers process the data on our behalf or under their own terms.
Personal data you submit: if you submit personal data (such as an email address) to the API, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so. Where we process such data to provide the Service, we act as a processor on your behalf.

We retain API request metadata only as long as needed for billing, security, rate limiting, and abuse investigation, after which it is deleted or aggregated. Request inputs and outputs are not retained beyond what is required to return the result and operate the Service, except where retention is necessary for security or to comply with the law.
